Certain Land Rover car parts will only need to be replaced if they malfunction. Other common, degradable parts, such as filters and brake pads, should be changed regularly to avoid bigger problems.
When to Replace Common Land Rover Car Parts
Air filters should be replaced every 12,000 miles or so. To determine whether new air filters are needed, open up the filter compartment, remove the air filter and look for dirt. If there is a lot of dirt between the paper or a large dark spot in the center of the red or orange side of the filter, it needs to be changed.
Oil filters should be replaced whenever the oil is changed. While the oil filter will probably not need to be changed after 3,000 miles, waiting until 6,000 miles might be too long. Instead of changing the filters on a different schedule than the oil, it is easier to just change both at the same time.
Look at the brake pad on the Land Rover to determine whether it needs to be changed. If it's between one-eighth and one-fourth of an inch thick, it should be replaced fairly soon. If getting a good visual on the brake pads is too difficult without taking the car apart, check for auditory cues. If the brakes make a squeaking noise, they probably need to be replaced.
