Hyundai replacement parts are available for repairing or replacing the A/C system. While it is best to have a professional diagnose and repair the problem, it can't hurt to have some idea what the problem might be before taking it to the shop.
Hyundai Replacement Parts for the A/C System
Before replacing the Hyundai A/C system, first determine where the problem lies. Here are just a few common symptoms and their causes:
- Rattling noise: This is often caused by debris in the fans. Check to make sure that the airways are clear.
- Water leaking inside the vehicle: This signals a clogged drainage line. Water should drip under the car, not inside it.
- Decreased cooling capability: This could mean that the coolant levels are low or the clutch is not working. Make sure there isn't a leak in the system.
A/C work should usually be done by a professional mechanic. This is especially true for cars built before 1990. These older models use the old R-12 coolant, which is toxic to humans and is a common greenhouse gas. Simply releasing it is dangerous and illegal.
For newer Hyundai models, like the Accent and the Tiburon, this will not be an issue. Nonetheless, professional maintenance is recommended. The parts can be difficult to locate; some require removal of the passenger side dash. Also, getting the levels of coolant and lubricant correct can be difficult without professional tools and equipment.
A-Air sells new and rebuilt A/C parts for several Hyundai models, including the Accent, Excel, Sonata and Tiburon. Parts are available separately and in kits for full replacements.
