Shopping for Nissan parts to repair an A/C system is more than just finding a new compressor. First, determine that it is actually the compressor that needs to be replaced. Even if it is the problem, the mechanic will also need other Nissan parts to repair the system fully.

Other Replacement Nissan Parts for the A/C System

When replacing the Nissan A/C compressor, remember that other parts may also need to be changed. Take the opportunity, while everything is apart, to change the rings. These rubber seals dry up, crack and can lead to coolant leaks. Whenever the system is opened up, the desiccant in the drier should also be replaced. The system will obviously need new coolant and the proper lubricant for the coolant type. R-12 coolant, found in cars built before 1990, requires a mineral oil as a lubricant. R-134a systems use a synthetic oil, such as PAG or POE oil. It is very important that the right lubricant be used. Mineral oil, when mixed with R-134a, will turn to sludge and ruin a new compressor.

Other replacements may be suggested, or even required, by the warranty on the compressor. Make sure to follow all the service-installation and warranty instructions when replacing any Nissan parts.
