The most important component in the AC system is your compressor. The compressor is essentially the heart of the air conditioning system, as its ability to pump refrigerant determines AC cooling quality. The AC compressor is a belt-driven distribution pump that moves refrigerant through the compressor to the other components of your AC system, including the A/C Condenser, A/C Evaporator, AC Receiver Drier, AC Accumulator, A/C Orifice Tube, AC Expansion Block and AC Expansion Valve.  The refrigerant travels from the A/C compressor through the various components in a continuous, closed loop

The AC compressor compresses low pressure cool refrigerant gas, converting it to hot, high pressure gas.  This hot gas travels from the compressor to the AC condenser to release heat, and to condense into liquid state.  The liquid then travels through an AC drier to the                        AC expansion valve and then to the AC evaporator, removing heat from the vehicle passenger compartment.  The refrigerant then travels back to the compressor to repeat the process.
